My TPACK Journey

During the creation of my eBook, I gained many new technological skills. My TPACK journey started off with a high comfort level with using technology and working on the computer. Little did I know, I actually learned a lot about the infinite number of ways to use technology for educational purposes. I expanded my skills through creating a blog, which I had not previously had experience with, and got experience with different programs online. I now have a very positive attitude towards using eBook creation tools in my future classroom. I can definitely see myself using an eBook as a end product of a project-based lesson in the intermediate and senior grades. In my own teaching, I will use the eBook to connect with students and parents outside of the classroom. I think it is a great way to combine previous knowledge with new knowledge while exploring the interactive environment of the internet. The possibilities are endless! A pedagogical strategy gained through being involved in this process that will translate to my instruction of creating eBooks with my futures students in the classroom is modeling, such as showing examples and going through the process as a class on a larger screen at the front. Another important strategy I benefited from during this creation process is having a printed out copy of clear instructions what involve pictures from the program itself. It is also important to break it down and take it step by step - keeping it simple will not overwhelm the students. Overall, the eBook creation tools and process was quite enjoyable and it will be important to incorporate them into my future classroom to keep up with the ever changing 21st century learner.
