Explore Music Online!

Howdy Students!

Next week I will be introducing a new topic in our music class. This topic is RHYTHM.

I have selected some online links for you to explore so you can come to class with a better idea of what we are about to learn!

First, check out this YouTube clip:

Stomp Out Loud
- How does this video represent rhythm?

Next, explore this resource about the concept of rhythm.

The Music Lab - Here you will find information about what rhythm is. There are also different activities you can participate in on this website! Feel free to explore the different musical concepts on this website as well :).

Lastly, play this rhythm game if you want. Who doesn't love a good computer game?

Rhythm Master - Click on the game " Be a Rockin' Rhythm Master" and see if you can create the same rhythm's as the bongo player!

We will talk about these links and your experiences in our next music class on Tuesday.

Rock On,

Miss Gleeson

Have Fun With Math!!

Exciting News!!

Hello again Grade 4's.

Today I answer the question you are all secretly wondering.. YES! It is possible to have fun with math online at home. As you know, we will be continuing to work on probability as our unit in math this month. I found a great game to help practice your already awesome probability skills.

Probability game can be found at: http://bit.ly/ApeUm1

Parents and Guardians - this is a game which you can also participate in with your student. In grade 4, students must be able to "predict the results of a simple probability experiment, then conduct the experiment and compare the prediction to the results". This game touches upon the overall and specific expectations of the curriculum. This is a GREAT website for enhancing math skills in an interactive way. It also has many other probability games students can try out :). The best part is if they get the answer wrong, the game will take them through checking their answer and how to try it again in order to get the right solution.

If anyone is wondering, you can find the math curriculum document at bit.ly/9la1EB. This specific website has activities for every grade and all expectations of each unit as well. EXCELLENT RESOURCE! Make sure you bookmark this one on your computer for future use as well!

Yours in education,

Miss Gleeson

Curriculum Geography Game!

Ahoy Grade 4 Students!

As you know, in Social Studies we have been focusing on Geography - specifically the Provinces and Territories of Canada! I have found an online game to help you all study for our upcoming quiz next week. Bonus: It is super fun too!

The Provinces and Territories game can be found at : http://bit.ly/RxwXjk

This is a great way to test your knowledge of the geography of Canada! You can try it as many times as possible to get the high score!

For Parents and Guardians

Our Grade Four students have been studying the geography of Canada in our Social Studies Unit so far this month. The curriculum expectation states, by the end of Grade Four students should be able to  "name and locate the various physical regions, provinces, and territories of Canada and
identify the chief natural resources of each". In order to move on and explore different parts of each province and territory, this fun and interactive game will ensure they can identify the different areas of Canada, and the capital cities. Next week we will be moving on to natural resources!

I believe that websites and interactive games such as this are beneficial to engaging our students in their learning. This is an excellent way to study as well for our Quiz this Friday!

You may even test your knowledge of our great country! :)

Until next time,

Miss Gleeson
